XLAA
From Ace Combat Skies - Wiki
XLAAs, long-range air-to-air missiles, are SP weapons in Ace Combat that are represented by long-range active radar-guided AAMs.
AIM-54 Phoenix
The AIM-54 Phoenix is a long range AAM developed specifically for the F-14 Tomcat and its AWG-9 radar to defend carrier battle groups from long-distance threats. Combined with the radar, the system has 24-target tracking capabilities and six missiles, a Tomcat's full payload, can be simultaneously fired at individual targets. Its targeting system, rather than following its targets, climbs to a high altitude and dives on them with high speed. Despite all of these advantages, of the two Phoenixes fired in combat by the US Navy, both failed to hit their targets. However, the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force claims many victories with AIM-54s.
In Ace Combat, Phoenixes appear only on Tomcats.
AA-9 'Amos'
The 'Amos' (Russian designation R-33) is a long range missile intended for use aboard the MiG-31 'Foxhound' and initially tested on the MiG-25. In Ace Combat it can also be carried by Su-35s and Su-37s.
