Erusea is a fictional country in the Ace Combat world that first appeared in Ace Combat 4 as the game's antagonist, and was briefly mentioned in the sequel Ace Combat 5 and in 5's prequel Ace Combat Zero. At it's height, it occupied 90% of the continent east of Usea, conquering various independent states. Later a counter-attack by the Independent States Allied Forces (ISAF) liberated the continent and resulted in Erusea itself becoming occupied.

Location
Erusea is located on the Western coast of the Usean continent, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the West and Cascade Ocean to the north, and San Salvacion to the east. It's land area is briefly revealed in Ace Combat 4's first mission briefing when it is shown as the darkened area of western Usea before this darkened area consumes all of Usea showing all the territory taken by Erusea. Erusea's actual territory can be seen on the map at the top of the page.
Climate
From what is seen in-game, Erusea has a mostly temperate climate, with the exception of the desert between the Amber and Lambert mountain ranges.
Notable Places
- Anchor Point City - Located on the Iruzari River between the Amber and Lambert mountain ranges, Anchor Point City was once a large port. After an asteroid impacted nearby, the river dried up, and the city has been abandoned.
- Farbanti - Capital of the Free Erusean Republic. Though badly damaged in 1999 from a fragment of Ulysses XF04, by 2005 most of the city is back to normal.
- Twinkle Islands - An island chain with rocky terrain off of Erusea's southwestern coast. This was also the location of Megalith. Megalith was destroyed on September 26, 2005 during Operation: Judgement Day.
History
Pre-War
Before the Continental War, Erusea participated in the construction of Stonehenge along with other Usean nations to defend itself from the Ulysses asteroid. Regardless of this, Erusea was devastated by the planetfall of the asteroid. Not only were the economic ramifications enormous, but a large portion of the capital city Farbanti was hit by a fragment of the asteroid and submerged.
Continental War
In 2004, Erusea dominated the Usea continent using Stonehenge to dominate the airspace over the continent. This drove out the Independent State Allied Forces, who were deprived of any air support, to North Point. In turn Erusea conquered most of the Usea mainland. However, within a period of a year, ISAF destroyed Stonehenge and had successfully reoccupied the continent. Erusea officially surrendered in 2005, ending the Continental War.
Post-War
In 2006, a group of nationalistic Erusian officers took over munitions factory with large amounts of military hardware (including 4 X-02s) and rebelled against the ISAF occupation forces. The rebellion was eventually crushed by Mobius 1.
Military
Army
Erusea's army mainly uses NATO equipment. Like the rest of the Erusian military, it is large and powerful, and was able to conquer the Usean Continent. M1 Abrams and BMP-3s make up most Erusian ground forces encountered in-game. Artillery is provided by M270 MLRSs and M110 Self-Propelled Howitzers. Anti-aircraft defenses include the Gepard, MIM-23 HAWK, ADATS, Flak 88, and M167 VADS.
Army Aviation
Erusian army aviation includes a mix of Russian and American helicopters. AH-64A Apache, Ka-50 Hokum-A, and Mi-24D Hind-D attack helicopters operate alongside CH-47D Chinook transports.
Erusian Air Force
On the Usean continent, Erusea stands out because of the ace pilots in its Air Force. Although Erusea doesn't possess as much a variety of aircraft as Yuktobania or Osea, it makes up for this through skilled pilots. The military as a whole is very well equipped with American, Russian and European equipment.
B-2A Spirits, Tu-95 Bear-Gs and Tu-160 Blackjacks provide Erusian forces with strategic bombing support. Other aircraft with significant ground-attack capabilities include the F-2A Viper Zero, F-15E Strike Eagle, F-117A Nighthawk, Tornado GR.1, A-10A Thunderbolt II, and AV-8B Harrier II
The FEAF's focus is on air-to-air combat. Fighters seen in-game include the F-4E Phantom II, F-5E Tiger II, F-15C Eagle, F-15S/MTD, F-16C Fighting Falcon, F-22A Raptor, MiG-21bis Fishbed-L, MiG-29A Fulcrum-A, Mirage 2000C, Su-35 Flanker-E, Su-37 Flanker-F, Su-47 Firkin, and EF-2000 Typhoon.
Support aircraft seen in-game include the KC-10A Extender, SR-71A Blackbird, and E-767. The FEAF's transport aircraft are C-17A Globemaster IIIs, C-130 Hercules, and V-22 Ospreys.
XB-70A Valkyries appear in one mission launching cruise missiles at ISAF landing forces.
The X-02A Wyvern was designed by Erusea's state-run aerospace firm, but apparently did not enter service during the Continental War.
156th TFW
Aquila Squadron, the 156th Tactical Fighter Wing, is an elite Erusian fighter squadron featured as the game's primary antagonist, appearing as bosses in several missions. They are nicknamed "Yellow Squadron" because of their callsigns and the yellow wingtips of their aircraft. Aquila Squadron's primary role in the Continental War was to protect Stonehenge, but they were sent to several battles far away from it when Erusian forces were in need of reinforcements. Although they performed well in the beginning of the Continental War, the Erusian Air Force began to transfer in pilots with less combat experience as the war continued. There are two Yellows specifically referenced in the story, Yellow 13 and Yellow 4. Yellow 4 is killed shortly after the destruction of Stonehenge, and Yellow 13 is killed in action over Farbanti during the ISAF invasion of the city. In the game's final mission, Yellow Squadron defends Megalith from ISAF's attack on it. Yellow Squadron flies Su-37 Flanker-F.
EASA
The Erusea Air and Space Administration is an Erusean government-owned company specializing in aircraft and spacecraft design that became a privately owned company after a larger merger. The company is well known for the fact that it built the X-02 Wyvern for the Erusean airforce. Following the Continental War of Ace Combat 4, EASA later became Neucom, Inc.
Navy
Erusea's navy is seen in several Ace Combat 04 missions. Although much of it is destroyed in ISAF's attack on Comberth Harbor, small groups of Erusean warships are in later missions.

Aegir Fleet
Nicknamed the "Invincible Fleet", the Aegir Fleet was station in Comberth Harbor, on the east Usean coast during the Continental War. Most of the names are based on birds or Old English and Norse legends. At that time, it was made up of:
