Boy am I ever late to the gun, but I've gone ahead and translated the Weekly Famitsu interview and summarized the Dengeki Online one, both with Kazutoki "brand-producer key-man" Kono.

Weekly Famitsu

Dengeki Online

Both have some interesting parts, but the signal to noise ratio is a lot better in the Dengeki Online interview. Japanese game journalism is just all around not amazing, but Famitsu is trash like holy shit.

As for the site these translations are posted on, see here.

And here's a summary of the 4gamer interview.

And here's a summary of the 4gamer interview.

>Kono is insistent that this game is a continuation of AC04, AC5, and AC6

oh boy

>Of course there will be superplanes, and according to Kono, they will have new "gimmicks.”

oh boy (as long as it isn't something stupid like ACJA's Goose of Doom ripping off the Fenrir's (playable) gimmick)

>That said, another design goal is to make the landscape seem alive as well. His example is that in the demo, if you descend below the clouds, you can see squalls over the tropic jungle, and if you fly low enough, you’ll see startled flamingoes taking flight.

neat

>Kono promises that there are actual reasons for the Kestrel II’s appearance. He says this idea developed after consulting with Katabuchi, which raises all kinds of questions about his involvement. He makes it sound like it was he who came up with the idea to include a “Kestrel II” and Katabuchi’s job to make sense of it.

well now if that isn't cryptic as to why

more importantly why is it called the 'Kestrel II' and not just 'Kestrel'? literally what navy uses numbers in the names of fighting ships besides Germoney and subs?

But how many USS Enterprises have already been in service?

Let's not forget that successor ships had an entirely new designation altogether. It kind of gives off the vibe that PA did not find another name, or that the Osean MoD is even more upside down than the British MoD that picked the name Challenger for their MBT without remembering that there was a tank destroyer called that already.

Oh btw, it's a shame that Kono did not think about J-turns when answering that supermaneuverability question, let alone Cobra turns. That is, unless I am overestimating the flight model by a lot.

The carrier Vulture was sunk in the Eaglin Straits, but keeps its original name in the demo's mission briefing.

It's actually the Albatross; they somehow spectacularly flubbed the localization.

They better fix it by release then, or better yet the next trailer.

Which will probably be, what, PSX? Plenty of time.

There is plane customization, but surprisingly, it's only a new game plus thing. They were worried about players playing the same mission over and over again the first time through the campaign just to grind for parts

Why do we even need to grind for parts? Just have them available from the start, or at least just make them unlock over the course of the campaign like planes do. Though, well, I guess we can't be sure the planes will be easy to unlock either. Actually, now that I think about it, they'll probably be bullshit too. Kono's in charge, and he seems to think making you grind for things is a good idea. Fantastic.

Parts customization as long as we unlocked them in the campaign it's fine, but if you get them playing online like in Infinity fuck it.

Grinding is fine so long as it's not an overly long grind.
