The song that's playing as the Super Hornet is sitting on the runway right before taking off sounds very familiar and Ace Combat-esque (like a Sortie song almost), but I've skimmed through the soundtracks and can't find it. Anyone here recognize it?

Wow yeah, that's Four Horsemen, mission 12B from AC5.

Some of the audience would be booing from that song if they recognised it, 'cause that mission was a pain-in-the-arse back in the day.

It's a good track though - I can see why they used it.

I remember forgetting what synchronization meant at that time. Oh well. Powder Keg was a nicer mission.

I can't believe I missed that. Thank you, it's been driving me crazy trying to figure out what it was lol. I'm a lot more familiar with the music from AC4, 6, and AH.

Thanks!  I wish I would've had a chance to talk to the VFA-122 crew about it when I was there. I'm near the east coast, so VFA-106 typically flies at shows around me, and they have their own music (I believe they use the Top Gun theme for that particular spot :D ).

Hehe, nice.

Well, maybe VFA-122 will be out towards the east coast again sometime. Or else, one of our members out on the west coast will see this thread and ask about it themselves.

Back in the day? I still hate that mission. Easily the worst mission in AC5.

That's a fun way to say Ancient Walls. That mission was terrible. The combat was not very challenging, just very long and tedious. This is made worse by having no return line and simply being one massive autoscroller escort mission. It's simply torture that's what.

Some also pronounce Ancient Walls as Handful of Hope, Final Option and Solitaire...ugh.

Don't suppose we can do a favorite track from Ace Combat thing here? Or would that be more appropriate for what's probably a long-abandoned thread?

Just make a new thread. There's technically an old one, but it'd be a bit awkward to pick up where that one left off.

Technically "What's your favorite BGM?" is on the list of worn-out ACS topics, but it's been long enough and we've gotten enough new members that I suppose it couldn't hurt.

Ancient Walls was a pain, but not that bad.

Solitaire was fine. Boring, but fine so long as your wingmates didn't decide to slam into you while you were going full throttle towards the return line.

Handful of Hope is only annoying if you don't look at the radar map and are in something slow. Otherwise it's pretty easy once you figure out the map.

Final Option is a close second. Fuck you Pops, as long as I have visual I can catch up with you.
