15 days ago, there was a ruse that engulfed the world.

The Ace Combat Ruse. And in that ruse was a game who trailed across the sky, and disappeared from video game history.

It was a rumored game that inspired skepticism and hype. It is the game I seek.

And so, with the words of "fighterman", the curtain rises.

I see your Ace Combat Zero reference and raise you a (more fitting) AC5 version.

Well, ruse's have broken out here plenty of time before.

They've tried to get the fandom to buy the latest game time and time again.

Luck was never on Namdai's side, though, and its victories didn't last long.

They didn't realize that the game had changed.

I don't really gain anything by telling a lie, I'm just reporting what I saw from what the data-miner has.

Just wait until Saturday comes, even if they delay the announcement, the new Ace Combat is still around the corner.

I don't think you're lying, dude. We'll just have to wait 'til Saturday--then we can call you a liar.

What I'm afraid of is that some other "big title" took the time and stage on PSX away from Ace Combat 7 thus caused AC7 announcement gets delayed/AC7 announcement info being deleted from ACI

You know, all things considered though, I wouldn't say ACAH was a mistake. I'm probably still in the minority here, but I thought it did a neat job emulating the gritty tone of shootbang games. A little more levity and, you know, character, probably would've made it better, but gameplay-wise the main problem to me was LEADs and nerfing missile tracking of non-CRA stuff too much. If it had been a tool instead of a crutch, i'd done much better.

OTOH, if Namdai had just released a PS3 port of AC6 like a year after the 360 version, perhaps this all could've been avoided. But making MS only titles in the 360's early lifespan was a chance many Japanese devs took, since the architecture of it's guts was easier to program for than the beast that was Cell Processor. Whose to say PA could have even gotten AC6 working on PS3 without completely overhauling it.

Anyways, I sorta have... reservations about how well ACI has kept up brand recognition for the Ace Combat IP. Certainly it's been something of a success for Namdai or else they wouldn't be supporting it, but I don't think it's endeared itself to the gaming public at large. My theory, and really my only hope for a new, moderately-well budgeted AC title, is that AC7 is only happening because Sony is paying some of the costs because air combat probably demos really really well with VR.

I think they said Ace Combat wasn't getting VR support, though.

They did it because it was egg on their face for spoiling a reveal in advance like that. These things are scheduled weeks, if not months in advance, and if it's been given stage time it's because they personally see value in it in furthering the value of the PlayStation brand.

That was a quote from like, what, 2013? Things change, and if Sony's willing to foot the bill like they are with SFV, I doubt they'd say no.

Eh. Good point; could be like a more practical EVE: Valkyrie. Even then, I feel like VR would be optional; this shit might run so fast motion sickness would set in before long.

You know what, I'll put my money on it being Ace Combat VR. We're already reaching for the stars for seven, why not go further.
