I haven`t seen anything like this in any of the other forums, so I`m going to assume it was just an oversight by everyone else, and this seems the best place to make this topic in keeping with precedent. So, here goes.

In just 4 days, the Strangereal timeline is due to align with the real world once again. It`s been five years since the last last we had an opportunity like this, and it`s probably the last chance this place will ever see, so it`d be a damn shame if we passed it up. Those of you who remember the Commemoration of the Circum-Pacific War will know what I`m talking about. As for the rest of you, I`ll do my best to give you an idea of what I have in mind, to recreate what was started in September of 2010.

The intent of this event is to attempt to engage in the battles of Ace Combat 6, the Anean Pacific War, in real time. The objective is to outperform everyone else and prove yourself the true Garuda 1 and savior of Emmeria. For the CCPW, participants would play through each mission on the date prescribed in the mission briefing or thereabouts and post their timestamped results. While the option of co-op missions in this game offers a new possibility, I personally favor offline competing given the difficulty in scheduling inherent to an online community such as ourselves. Specifics on when the missions shall be done and in what fashion (campaign vs. free mission, difficulty, etc.) should be decided by majority of the participants.

This event doesn`t fit under any of the categories described in the Rules of Engagement. Rather than a formal competition, I`d like it to retain the free-flowing and casual vibe that the CCPW had 5 years ago. Of course, before this can even get off the ground, there needs to be a display of those willing to help make this happen. All those interested, make yourselves heard below!

It's AC6. Of course I'm in.

I'd say play Free Mission for the simplicity (I think there's no debriefing for Chandelier in Campaign mode either) and leave difficulty up to the player, since higher difficulties provide more points due to extra enemies spawning (up to Expert anyway, Ace provides no additional points but the actual difference in difficulty is negligible anyway). Also ADMM and EML shouldn't be allowed for obvious reasons, but no easy way to enforce that other than honor system since debriefings don't show the aircraft used. Maybe require an additional timestamped picture of the last few seconds of the mission itself, but I can think of at least one case where this is not really possible (Chandelier).

Also, reminder that AC6's debriefings don't show your total mission time outright, instead showing an increasing timer that goes along with the simulation thingy with the arrows, making it impractical to get a screenshot of your time. There's only a couple of cases where score ties are likely though, so it's not a big deal to just ignore time.

I still don't have an Ecksbawks, so I can't play.

And it's the only good Ace Combat that I haven't played yet, besides 4.

In response to Positron, I think that simpler is better. Since this isn`t a super serious competition, honor code should suffice for plane use and mission time. As such, a standardized format for mission info should be used. I propose the following:

Mission [number]
[embedded screenshot]
Difficulty: [difficulty]
Rank: [rank]
Score: [score]
Time: [time]
Player: [plane and weapon]
Wingman: [plane and weapon]

Post here.

We should discuss what time frame should be alloted to complete the mission and post results, but for this first one that kinda snuck up on me and everybody else, there shouldn`t be any restriction.

Looks like I`m the first to get it done. Best of luck to the rest of you!

For any of you without experience with image hosting sites for the screenshots, I recommend www.imgur.com for simplicity and ease of use.

Looking at the above scores, I`m starting to realize just how out of practice I am here.

Well, I completely forgot that there are no missions for another three months. At least I`ll have time to knock off the rust and get up to speed with the rest of you. Hopefully, that`ll give people plenty of time to hear about this, get prepared, and get involved. Make sure to spread the word. This might just end up being the biggest activity this place has seen in a couple years.

You Git GudTM.

Is it okay if I upload my pic this weekend? I honestly forgot to play and I really want to partake in this and I don't have access to 3rd best AC game until Friday.

Don`t worry about the timing on this first one. It took everyone by surprise, really. I`m hoping that more people will notice and join before the second mission rolls around.

Farmed the respawning enemies in the first part for as long as possible (or as fast as possible, since I suspect the trigger for the respawns stopping may be time-based), then killed everything after the update. I actually could have done better if I'd used Allied Attack on Strigon, I only got 4 of them by myself before they retreated.

Edited my previous comment with my time and score, I'm a certified noob and been officially BTFO now.

The image didn't embed from my phone for unknown reasons. I'm currently trying to link the image through Photobucket with no success again, so I'm feeling two times a noob here.

I may try Imgur and see, give me some time.

Edit: made it, it's visible now

Edit2: what's that "Pegas" unit on Broth3r and Positron debriefings?
