An egregious example:

Many of the posts go against this rule:

Keep posts informative / useful: Posting with the sole intent to increase your post count is a waste of everyone's time. Please do not do it.

Forums aren't designed like imageboards. It's nothing but a nuisance rather than funny.

Yeah, that kinda got loose...

At least 8 out of the 13 posts in that thread are spam... Nothing but someone posting a stupid picture or saying "LOL."

^ewww...yeah, something like that that's just a variation of the facepalm joke is definitely annoying.

One question though, how are the rules with respect to Emphasized quote ladders? (See Here for an example i recently made: http://acecombatskie...081#entry692081 )

A joke was made, yes, but i also supplied information relevant to the topic. Stuff like this isn't going to far, right, since it actually contributes something?

How bout you just bold the part of that quote you want to make fun of?

There is no need to 'zero in' on the phrase, like you did. And I believe you're not the only one.

A lot of these kind of posts (speaking to everyone, now) just get deleted by Staff, in the hopes that you'll get the idea that we will not allow that (whatever 'that' is). We don't want to have to go through the whole formal warning/suspension of priveliges thing if we can achieve the same result by simply deleting the post and you 'getting the hint' that we won't allow this.

Of course, if you don't get the hint, we go to warnings, suspensions, bans, that kind of stuff.

Same thing if I PM you with a 'verbal' warning. I'm really trying to save us both trouble and work by giving you the chance to correct the unwelcome behavior on your own, without going the disciplinary route.

Yeah I've yet to see anyone get the hint. Really, I think most of the folks pop their picture up and forget about it and don't care that it gets deleted.

It's a dick. I'd say it's rather fitting.

It's actually an edited quote.

Fry changed the signature, added a line, then rotated it 90 degrees and allowed you to use your deranged imaginations.

I'm sure many people's signatures can be easily changed to various representations, withg just slight additions or subtractions.

Still, the point (and attribution of same) is valid.

I just posted a story from Military.com about a Medal of Honor Recipient. Would that be considered spam?

Thing is, I was warned by Y13 a few weeks back for posting an article I think was from Military.com with the copyright still attached.

Assuming he posted it in the Military section of the forums, then no. Spam is defined as material that is irrelevent to a relevent subject matter. So pics, one word or emoticon posts that convey emotion and feelings without presenting on postable material is spam. Does the Medal of Honor relate to the military? Check. It is presented in a fashion that could be considered formal and adequately conveys its purpose? (You read it, and reply posting in relaventcy to the subject matter) Check. Is the post/topic in question a single picture, emoticon, flame, or short statement with no supporting evidence, factual information, or unsourced and clerly displays lack of thought process in posting? Negative.

Good, the post checks out and is not spam. :)

There lies the problem.
