I dunno, I'm not here to debate anything, just ask opinions...

I personally saw it as a filler mission, waste of time, didn't add anything to the story...

What was it supposed to do, say hello to the bad guy? We already knew he's the bad guy & obvious bad if he supported a terrorist organisation, which was pretty clearly hinted before this mission. Other than that all I saw was a mission that contradicted the title of the game ie. "Combat"

Next time I just hope they op for an escort mission, those are always better than this... whatever it was...

On the contrary, it's supposed to give you a big sense of surprise when you find out he's the guy you want to kill (actually, you weren't supposed to have realized it by that point), and you've spent what was meant to be the most annoying mission saving his rear end. To think you could've killed him right there and ended the game simply by banking too hard in one direction.

Plus, it's canyon flight. Moreover, it's an escort mission that works more logically than the dumb straight line AI flight of previous AC games. My biggest grudge against the mission is that it was part of single player and not vs mode. Such a thing would make a perfect ace combat style CTF mode. If you want a mission that wastes time, the silo thing was a complete waste, and pure filler. Same with raging seas. It seems that mission was meant to be more. And then the mission where you have to slow down the choppers and boat somehow? Yeah, the 747 mission had much more purpose than any of these.

I saw it as a pointless mission. It was fun the first time round, boring the second time, and just plain annoying the next few times. And solo on ace mode was painful. S ranking and unlocking the part without destroying the nightowl requires a time of 8 minutes or less.

And isn't the "escort" VS missions where you must defend a 747?

Ps. For a handy hint while flying that mission, use the 'normal' control scheme.

IMO, it was only for the shock value/marketing and the story. It is probably the most mundane mission in the whole game for the first player.

I don't even have the game, but the BGM for this mission is, IMO, completely unsuitable for the action.

The first minute of the BGM is amazingly epic, with what I call "the most beautiful 20 seconds of music I have heard in my life" in the last third.

Absolutely breathtaking, it should be used for nothing less than the unveiling of galaxies.

After that, it becomes the theme from Supergirl, and I stop listening. :)

You are so right yellow. The music in this game sucks, all other ace combat game's music is better than this game's music.
its horrible, the worst track is that stupid desert sounding one, uhh.. Bgm 5.. Gosh. Just listening to it now makes me start to bring up my dinner. There are like 3 tracks that are moderately good. 21 20 19 18 and at a push 22. I'm still waiting for mobius23 to upload them to youtube. I know that was more than 3 tracks but when you take the good bits out of them they are only the length of 3 tracks...
Nothing can compare to the bgm of ACX or really any of the others.

Someone really should start a bgm thread.

Being as big a fan of Ace Combat BGMs as I am.....I have the OSTs for 04, 5, Zero & 6, and this (at least the first minute of it) is the equal of anything that Kobayshi has done.

I dislike the remainder, because they took such awesomeness and turned it into a cartoon theme.

I also really like Suljiman's theme, the main theme, the debrief theme, and, well, I don't know if it's actually in the game, but something called a 'Linkage - Remix'. here it is;

Atleast SF mission had some epic-ish over tones that I could appreciate...

Here I just shouted at Oliveri to shut up since his voice over power even the engine noise :lol:
As for music, I don't know, it sounded like an amalgamation of all previous Ace Combat games along with some new ones, so I didn't really pay attention.

Sounds like the game's music to me, 6/10 I like how it captures the feeling of flying, but more of a patriotic sense (ironic, you're a merc) & that of a ballet or lead up to a battle that in an actual one, still it's not bad, but I don't think it suited the pace & tone of the mission, something darker & more sinister would've been more appropriate. A greater tempo may have worked too, I dunno I'm not so good with music...

In my opinion, all you have to know is what you like, so when you hear it, you'll know. :lol:

It seems about half the BGMs are retreads from AC2 (though I thought I heard something form AC3 in there) and half is original music by whoever the composer for this was.....not Kobayashi, IMO. This guy has flashes of genius, but can't sustain it. Still, he does produce a recognizable and repeatable theme for the game that's not bad at all.

DON'T CONFUSE ME!!!

The music of the game is good, like some of the combat ones esp. against Varcolacc/Rigel, can't remeber which one but it had a kickin' guitar sound.
The music here however wasn't appropriate for the mission, kinda like choose to stay on the highway when you missed your exit 2 miles ago in the other direction

I can't stand any background music in ANY games!
First thing i do is, go to options and switch off BGM.
I know they're only games,but in real life you don't have music pounding away in the background.
Plus you can't hear commands/enemies etc. B)

I can hear the enemies just fine with the bgm on full, although I couldn't finish the last mission on that trash bgm, I hooked up my mp3 player and listened to ACX music, specificaly the armarda/alect squadron/operation X tune
