Not so sad when you consider its potential replacement

Ford's American dealers will be lacking a V8-powered sedan for the first time since 1932.

BioWare, no one wanted this ending back then, and no one wants it now.

A little late on this though....

I think the Taurus, the new full-size, is plenty enough power to fall in the footsteps of our tried-and-true V8 Crown Vic. Starting at 365hp and rumoring to make 400hp+ in the coming years, that's better then most V8's anyway.

The lesser models below the expensive SHO have the Cyclone DOHC 3.5L V6, which roughly puts out 265hp, and the old Crown Vic's 4.6L V8 pushed 239hp at it's most.

Those numbers say alot. I love Crown Victoria's no doubt, had an LTD before, but the Taurus is the new-runner for the full-size category and it's definitely enough muscle to be a competitor. They're even going to start useing them as interceptors for the police.

I'd still have the Audi...and i hate Audi.

In other stuff, took some snaps at last weekends 2011 Sandown V8 Supercars event...and i took photos of absolutely ZERO V8's, it was just too hard as i forgot the larger lens, and they never came out into the paddock. The only series i got some serious snaps of was the GT Champs.

Australia, the prime example of what should have happened to the American auto scene had we not had the oil crisis of 70's. Fast, mean, big cars and the Utes would still be alive. Instead we get Camrys, Civics, and Altimas, the "b**chified", poor excuse of automobiles.

If Ford would just import anything from the FPV line it would make millions. It's happened before look at what GM did, the GTO sold great, had they changed the front end just a little bit it would have been awesome, the G8 came here and was in the process of saving Pontiac until GM cut the plug. My girlfriend bot one, it's an awesome, awesome little car, the fact that's it's 4 years old and still holding 60-70% of it's value shows that the market was and still is there for it. People were lined up to buy the G8 ST and GM never gave it a chance.

Just so you know, apparently it's the 25th anniversary of the Ferrari F40's launch. Not bad. But God does that make me feel old...

From my POV, you're still misspending it.

Any car can be bad or good. It depends who owned them previously. Since it's a "Lancer" most kids who own it think its a sportscar [It's not an Evolution], and tend to hotrod the gas all the time and rice it out. They may mess with the fuel system, the air intake, the exhaust, pour all kinds of additives into it, and may turn it into a POS.

An older smarter person who takes it for a regular car may maintain it and keep the records on it.

Just remember to look out for obvious signs of what the previous owners could of done with it.

And as bad as people say it is, driving a manual is not hard at all. That's what I first learned on and two of my first cars were stick. Once you get used to it it's just like driving automatics. [Hell, I think they're better]
